Gervin averaged at least 14 points per game in all 14 of his ABA and NBA seasons, and finished with an NBA career average of 26.2 points per game.  He holds the distinction of being a former teammate of both Julius Erving (with the Squires) and Michael Jordan (with the Bulls). Widely regarded to be one of the greatest shooting guards in NBA history, Iceman was primarily known for his scoring but nicknamed Iceman for his cool demeanor on the court.

Following his time in the Toros tent, George will be interviewed on stage by Bill Schoening, the radio voice of the San Antonio Spurs.

He remains active in the San Antonio community with seven organizations designed specifically for underprivileged kids, including the George Gervin Youth Center. Gervin is beloved in San Antonio and believes that his own experience as an underprivileged child in Michigan inspired him to get involved.

These peer-to-peer relationships inspire hope and offer the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from someone who is uniquely familiar with the experience of preterm birth, life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a child born with special health care needs, loss of pregnancy and/or infant loss.

It is because of this tremendous and unique mission that the proceeds from the 2011 Steiner Ranch Concert in the Park are going to support Hand to Hold.

Hand to Hold has the power to improve the lives of parents of preemies, babies born with special health care needs and those that experience a loss due to these challenges.

Born in Midland, Texas, Matt G had developed his poetic and creative writing skills since childhood. His imaginative and narrative nature drive his music with a point of view drawn from his experiences in small-town America. His memories don’t consist of the stereotypical life on the streets of a metropolitan American city; rather, small West Texas with it’s familiar adolescent mischief.

“I was always a good writer. English was one of my strongest subjects, though I was capable of advancing at most everything. I always had great rhythm and am one helluva dancer (if I do say so myself). And though I’d been free-styling at parties since I was 16, I wasn’t much of a battle rapper and saw it mainly as a hobby. I tried to write raps from time to time prior to now, but never thought of it as a possible career.”

His need to connect with the listener on a deep emotional level is what fuels his fans’ continuous need for more of his music. Influences derive from song-writers in all genres of music including 2pac, Outkast, Michael Jackson, Prince, Notorious B.I.G, Eminem, Nas, Ice Cube, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Rakim, Bob Marley, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Boyz II Men, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and even Elton John.

The Steiner Ranch Home Owners Association is a mandatory, non-stock, nonprofit corporation. The purpose of an association is the preservation of economic value within your neighborhood through architectural controls and deed restrictions. An association provides these and more quality of life services that may include recreational activities, social programming, and maintenance of the common areas. A Board of Directors, elected by residents, operating under the legal documents, which established the association, governs the Association. In order to meet its required duties, your Association is empowered to enforce the provisions of community documents, as well as collect necessary fees and assessments to sustain services.

Who is Red Alert

Kathleen “Kat” Cairns (lead vocals) – Raised on a steady diet of Texas blues and Patsy Cline twang, along with solid rock sensibilities, Kat has been singing since the age of 10 when drawn to Southern rock, powerful rhythms, and the fine art of storytelling. Her 2 critically acclaimed CDs are receiving worldwide airplay, prompting Blues Revue Magazine to gush “Cairns remarkable voice is as tough as Angela Strehli and as nuanced as Bonnie Raitt.” Her vocal styling have often been compared to those of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Grace Slick, and Melissa Etheridge, yet she delivers the fresh outlook that only a new generation of bluesy rock singers can capture.

Scot Johnson (bass, lead vocals) – Beginning his professional music career at the tender age of 13, Scot played bass in a variety of country music clubs in Colorado. After playing in Jazz bands throughout high school, he attended world famous Berklee College of Music for 2 years studying audio engineering and performance. He has played for a variety of successful bands including The Occupants, Random Order, and Brave New World.

Gary Reece (lead guitar, keyboard, and vocals) – A multi-instrumentalist proficient on keyboards, guitar, bass and drums, Gary honed his chops as a drummer in high school marching band and jazz band and listening to records by Rush. He was a key member in Tres Hombres, a group in which each player doubled or tripled on other instruments throughout the set. As an itinerant musician, Gary played with a litany of musicians and bands in the Carrollton/north Dallas area including the acclaimed Blues Brothers Tribute band and Lake Dallas progressive rock group, Silent Thunder. Most recently, Gary began commuting to Dallas to play keyboards for Thunder Road, the Bruce Springsteen tribute band.

Jessie Sanchez (drums, lead vocals) – J.J. Sanchez is a versatile and seasoned drummer; well versed in Country, Rock, and Rhythm & Blues. His father was a drummer/vocalist for several bands in the mid-Michigan area for years; inspiring Jessie to become the same. He was just nine years old when he recorded a “45” rpm record with his father’s gospel band “The Sounds of Nimbus.” In the mid 90′s, Jessie toured with “Chuck Koble & Diamondback.” The tour caught the attention of “Yamaha” (Drums) and “Zildjian” (Cymbals), which lead to Jessie’s endorsement deal with both companies and performances with great artists such as Martina McBride, Ty Herndon, Diamond Rio, Toby Keith, The Marshall Tucker Band, Dr. Hook, Trace Atkins, and Trisha Yearwood.

Karl Friedrich (lead guitar, vocals) – Karl has been playing guitar for over three decades. While in Pittsburgh, PA, he studied under the direction of legendary Victor Lawrence. Vic is credited with training, among a huge list of world class guitarists, Pittsburgh’s guitar virtuoso Joe Negri (Mister Rogers Neighborhood). With electronics and acoustics as hobbies, you’ll always find Karl tinkering with gear, building something, or taking something apart. Karl has experience as a recording sound engineer and has recorded, mixed, and produced various compositions for his bands and other musicians.
